The Republican Heart Centre hosted the workshop on «Aortic abdominal endoprosthesing» using modern methods of prosthetic devices fixation.
On August 5 and 6, the Republican Heart Centre hosted the workshop on «Aortic abdominal endoprosthesing» . The workshop was held by Timur Khafizov, the head of the x-ray surgery methods of diagnosis and treatment department, candidate of Medical Science.
Vascular and heart surgeons from Ufa, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Tomsk, Khanty-Mansiysk and Cheboksary were invited to the workshop.
During the two days of the educational course, Timur Khafizov showed his colleagues two demonstration surgeries held on the patients with complex anatomy of the aorta abdomen region cervix using modern methods of prosthetic devices fixation.
Such surgeries have been held in the Republican Heart Centre since 2011, however without fixation.
«The patients that went through the surgery differ from the previous ones because their aneurysmal neck is problematic for fixation. We used a device to fix the endoprosthesis to the aortic walls, which prevents it from sliding in. Patients with such anatomic structure are about 10-12 percent of the overall number of patients with aneurysm in our region», commented Timur Khafizov.
On the second day of the workshop, Timur Khafizov looked into these cases in detail and discussed the future of the endovascular surgery development.
